This rare, old, hand made War Shield is beaten iron sheet with convex anterior, fibre bound grip to the rear, weathered and encrusted with Verdi Gris. Well patinated with rust encrusted facade. Shields were not only defensive weapons but were ritual objects, imbued with symbolic meaning, hence the emphasis on decoration. This shield was an issue to the Chad army in the 1950's conflict.
